Scrooge Permits

Alerted shopkeepers told me of some Scrooge tactics being applied by City Hall.
On the 3000 block of Broadway is the annual overhead light display. During the early evening and at night, it’s wonderful festive display of twinkling blue. Several thousand lights are strung to create a magical tunnel to walk under between the store fronts and the trees on Broadway. This display runs nearly half a block and is not easily missed. If you know where Kids Books is, you have found it.
Rumor has it that after several years of providing this addition to festive joy, city hall is now serving green eggs and ham (in the form of Patio Police), by demanding the store owners acquire a Sam Scrooge Permit for this display.
Truly, this is a mark of generous civic charity on the part of city hall. Should the shopkeepers be forced to take them down, it would be a great loss to the joyful spirit of Christmas.
