Too Much Information – a meme
Posted June 3rd, 2008 in Community, Sharing the Experience |
Normally this would be a spammy chain letter — GRRRRR
“But then along comes Mary”
That is Mary McKnight – the guiding light at Realtor Blogging Service who started this. Her meme (chain letter) asks 8 fun questions that let people know more about you than you would normally disclose in a blog.
Why 8?
I’ve never met Mary so I relied on Laurie Manny of Long Beach Real Estate-Downtown Long Beach Condos to inform me that “the number 8 is the infinity symbol and that 8, is Mary’s favorite number.”
Liberally quoting my friend Ines of Miamism, “responding to these eight questions is a pain in the posterior.” From my perspective, thinking cup half full – being invited to follow these particular blog powerhouse posteriors has it’s benefits. .>)
Not wanting to be left behind, and in honor of the U.S. Memorial Holiday, allow me to offer some Canadiana.
1. Who is your favorite musical artist?
Selecting the favorite Canadian musician is difficult. Within each genre there is talent that abounds. Ultimately the choice is narrowed to the quintessential matriarch of the Canadian music scene. The incomparable Joni Mitchel
2. Who is your favorite artist
Like all countries we too have great artists. True to West Coast spirit, I find Bill Reid the paramount of our artists. The first picture is his Raven and First Men. It is on display at the University of British Columbia and is carved from a block of yellow cedar. The second is the Haida Gwaii.Arriving at the Vancouver International Airport you will be greeted by this magnificent piece. Both pieces are depicted on our $20 bill. Viewing either up close, instills the majesty of our coastal nations.

3. Who is your favorite blogger
I have several amongst whom are:
- Ines of Miamism , for her joy of life, good realtor-ship and my favorite thing in life – a sense of humor.
- Jonathan Dalton of All Phoenix Real Estate because he loves Canadians.
- Norm Fisher of Team Fisher from Saskatoon because everyone needs a flat-lander to tell you where the world ends
- Maggie Chandler – Vancouver Reflections, who introduced me to blogging.
4. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?

It would have to be any one of the original land and sea explorers of our great country. Reflecting on obstacles conquered by these men, such as the prairies, mountains, rivers, muskeg, the sea and changing weather I am in awe of the perseverance these young men displayed – those on land such as Cabot, Champlain, Lewis and Clark, Fraser, Cartier and Thompson. Those on the sea such as Vancouver, Juan de Fuca, and Cook to name a few.
Can you imagine having all these guys over for a beer and BBQ and then just listen.
5. What did you want to be when you grew up?
An inventor of something that would in some way be beneficial to a lot of people.
6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?

Santa Claus is Canadian and our first nations invented basketball.
7. If you could live in any point in history when would it be and why?
|
Now – for I have witnessed men walk on the moon. |
8. What is the most interesting job you have ever held?
I’m lucky to have always been in a people business. Can there be anything that is more interesting or challenging?
The 8 people I memed
(which means they are required by meme law to answer and ask 8 other people to answer these same questions on their blogs!):
Norm Fisher – the best Realtor in Saskatoon
Maggie Chandler – knows more about Coal Harbor Condo’s than anyone else
Matthew Collinge – our local Yaletown, Fairview expert
Jonathan Narvey – a human and also a quality, insightful writer
Rebecca Bollwitt – the best, most consistent social blogger I’ve met
The Move Smartly Gang – always giving you more Toronto
Julie Kinner – Toronto’s fountain of real estate knowledge and insight
Sara MacLennan and Sheldon Johnston – just the very best bloggers in Edmonton

I’ve never been meme’d before so thanks, I think.
Ha, hey Mary, we have invaded Canada! lol… Hey Yatter, didja know that Joni wrote the Woodstock song, but never made it to the event because she couldn’t get through the traffic. She told me this herself shortly after she was reunited with the daughter she had given up earlier in life. I have had the opportunity to spend some time with Joni and I can tell you she is quite all right in my book!
Larry – what a fun meme to read, and Miamism is one of my favorites as well!
Joni Mitchell is a great artist and I really like her voice. I wonder what she is up to these days.
Matt:
Makes you think for a bit but, it’s a fun pause from RE.
Laurie: I told Ines that one day when I meet Mary I’m going to squeeze the meme out of her. .>)
Ann:
Kind you to stop by. Glad you had a good time.
Jay: Joni – Absolutely one of the world’s best although she was ours first.
I didn’t know Santa Claus invented the basketball!! LOL!
I am so glad you took on this lame game that really teaches us a little bit about each other and ends up not being so lame after all – so blogging transcends borders…..isn’t that cool!
….and I am truly flattered to be one of your favorites – WOW!
OH, and I can’t wait for that ultra powerful and super-charged meme hug when we meet!
Ines:
The basketball thing was by accident when one of the reindeer had to have a pee and he just lobbed a snow ball up at the chimney. Not a nice present for the kids but the start of a great game. .>)
About the hug – better have your stuffing in order
[...] admit I don’t get passed many blog-related memes much anymore but when I noticed an incoming link from Yatter Matters I had to check it out. When I saw that he referred to me as, “the best, most consistent [...]
Rebecca,
You are the best!
Thanks for stopping by and for the fun of it be cruel.
Hey Larry,
Sorry I didn’t play, but I hate these things.
@ Norm
What’s to hate?
Just a little fun diversion from the day to day that gives us all a little insight about our Canadian Saskatoon Realtor pal Norm.
