Vancouver’s Last Active Surviving Realtor

In the world of Vancouver real estate there are many things that qualify as last. The last market, the last peak, the last bubble, the last best price in a condo building.
Small however, is the number of things that exist as the last “active survivor”. Vancouver does of course, have a list of existing Heritage homes and buildings in the city that meet this definition, but like the S.S. Jeremiah O’Brian, they are relatively few.
It’s fun to look at things that are last. In our world of disposable anything, it makes you wonder how they got that way asking why their purpose ended. To find some that are actively surviving is more rare.
My thanks to Nicole Davies, who captured this photo of the S.S. Jeremiah O’Brian, the last active survivor of the 1944 D-day invasion of Europe. Through Nicole’s lense we are able to look at this ship while resting at her dock in San Francisco. There is much history that lies within those grey steel walls of steel.
While talking with Nicole I discovered her passion for architectural photography and urban portraiture. A Vancouver photographer for 11 years, she has in that time, compiled an extensive portfolio of fine photographs. As with many budding photographers, her photographer roots lie in shooting portraits. Nicole can be reached at photography2009@live.ca
Think about what you do. What would it be like to be the last person to turn out the lights?
Dare I wonder? What it would be like to be the last active surviving Vancouver Realtor®?
