blueskies -
it would be nice to see more quality builders out there. Problem is I 'suspect' is that they like many here are waiting for things to settle out. At least the man I have worked with won't play in this market.

Meth - at least there were doors separating the bath. Maybe that is the bonus. BTW hotplate only and no hood fan.

Boombust - what is the freakshow? This blog or the post? Clarify please.

davers - lot is 33 x 124 = max FSR 2455.2. Don't know if there was allowance given for the 'eco' green of having electric car plugs in the garage.

John - Mike Holmes - yup it would be a show worth watching. It would be a Emmy winner in about 5 years as issues really start to 'mature'.

DH - here to serve :)

Forgot to mention - it would have taken an extra 33 inches of wall (2 studs and a bit of wallboard), to separate the kitchen from the living room and dining room. That wasn't done so the refridgerator sits in the middle of the living room - total class IMO! On the other hand - if you ar a full on couch potato and like to be able to reach your beer and snacks without getting up - consider it a total bonus! :)

Some of the tiniest, crappiest hotel rooms I've stayed at in 3rd world countries were still bigger than that mortgage helper.

Not to worry though, a bidding war should erupt shortly.

Knight St. is the best place on earth, after all.

"it is 1200 square feet
it is beautiful,
it is stunning
it is a must see and
you’ll love the energy efficient windows and last,
it is new and priced at a cool $568,000 with mortgage helping bachelor suite

All seems good."

What? 568K for 1/4 of a house? It is 1200sf including the suite? Making it somewhere around 1050sf?

Man if all of the house pieces had a suit that would be 8 places! All on a lot made for 1 or maybe 2 houses. Sorry but all does not seem good so far.

Oh man 143sf suit?!?! And it was news about the 275sf ones that are being built. I think my storage and bathroom alone are bigger than that. Good luck getting 400 a month for that as a mortgage "helper". Given the payments will be in the range of 3K that will hardly make a dent.

Oh and I have a buying horror story. A co-worker paid almost 400K for a townhouse in surrey! Man 7 years ago that could get you a house in east Van.

Someone call Mike Holmes so he can tear the builder a new one on national TV! I wonder if anyone's ever successfully sued city inspectors for approving trash like this. Just goes to show that even if a house is new, you should still get it properly inspected.
