Vancouver Home Finding Surpasses Speed of Sound

Time to Change

My good friend at Ollie Media has been working feverishly to make some changes to this blog.

Saving Time

Saving time is not possible. Finding your new Vancouver home more quickly is possible.

Imagine if you will, a data base that exceeds 21,000 listings with ten images per listing. Finding your listing quickly amongst those 21,000 is a feat in itself. For that you need speed!

To that end, after spanking this blog, anticipate that you will find search times using ‘Find Your Home’ surpassing the speed of sound.

You may also notice that we’ve given the blog another speed spanking. Lag time for loading the front page should in most cases, be very quick – especially if you are using Google’s Chrome browser.

More Time Saved

There is more!

If you are searching for a Vancouver home you can check the little box at the bottom of the input form and have YatterMatters deliver only the ‘Latest Listings’. What does this mean to you? Simple – you will be not wasting valuable time idling as this new addition precludes repetitively glossing over listings you have already viewed. Go ahead – check the box and you will only get listings that appear in YatterMatters during the last 7 days.

Saving Me Time

I admit that some days it is impossible to keep up with manual input of data for the Dailies. As a approximate pulse of the market place it’s always a good thing to be able to have those numbers in a relevant and timely manner. To that end within the next few days you will notice the Dailies change.

Via IDX, expect is to see a number for new listings added to YatterMatters, the number of listings deleted, the total number of listings that recorded a change and finally, the total number of active listings for sale. The numbers compiled are for all Vancouver with breakout subsets for Vancouver West and Vancouver East.

New Daily Terms

  • Added‘ means it is a new listing.
  • Deleted‘ indicates the number of listings that have been sold or terminated.
  • Updated‘ indicates that some part of the listing has changed. Pictures may have been added, the description of the property has changed or there is a price adjustment.
  • Total is self explanatory as it is the total number of Active listings for sale.

Generic

If you find that the provided ‘Find Your Home’ information too generic and not meeting your personal needs, then it remains with you to contact me to set up a ‘Personal Home Finder’. It may be a new low in your life but, you will need to ‘talk’ with me to accomplish this goal.

I know, I know! Talking with a Vancouver Realtor® is probably not your idea of a good time. After all, admitting that you are considering buying a home would in some circles, be tantamount to heresy!

On the other hand, you might just find that I know stuff that will help find your new home in less time – something all of us are short of.

Does it mean that we won’t be able to see the listed versus sold dynamics as there is going to be only Deleted category that is going to group both (sold or terminated-Off the market)? Not that interesting at all!
I personally liked to see the self explanatory raw numbers on your web-site of the listed versus sold.

@Olga
I do understand your preference and while I agree with your opinion you must clearly understand that those numbers are recorded manually. As such the task is onerous. It is a task that unfailingly tethers me to a computer for a period of time 5 days a week regardless of where I am or what I may be doing. The augmentation to the Dailies demanded lengthy deliberation as I know individuals such as yourself, have come to rely on these numbers appearing daily.

Unfortunately, business and life gets in the way and much to my regret, I am not always able to provide them consistently. Seeking a viable automated though admittedly a less pointed solution, I have opted to retrieve these numbers from the Internet Data eXchange as well. While I recognize the limitations of interpolating ‘solds’, it is relative to the time required and available programming dollars, as good as it gets – at least for now.

The Dailies as you know them will remain for the interim. As time permits I will make every effort to update them with the accorded time stamps.

To be clear my objective of the ‘automated Dailies’ is to ‘fill in’ the interim periods – those times when I am unavailable to complete the manual input. My overall goal was provide at a minimum for you and many other readers, some indication of market changes every day.

Thanks for your input. Much appreciated!
