Kitsilano Changes
I enjoy looking at old pictures of Kitsilano. Quite often I find a surprise that reveals what was then and what is now.

Browsing the Vancouver Public Library archives I stumbled upon a gem not many blocks away from my residence. Found were photographs taken by Leonard Frank a prodigious photographer who captured this Kitsilano logger’s home in the mid 1930′s.

It is good fortune that Mr. Frank recorded the address as 2800 block of West 12th Ave. This made finding the current home easy. On a walk around my neighbourhood I went in search and found this bungalow. In the original picture by Mr. Frank, you see a home on the left side. Today that home exists and is identifiable by its siding, the center window, and front decorative treatment above the porch.
It is fun to speculate what words the logger might use if told that his former property is now valued in excess of $1,000,000.
