Tethered to a Beautiful Balloon

5th Dimension

How do you rationalize Vancouver home prices? They seem to be in the 5th Dimension. With certainty Median Prices are definitely Up, Up and Away.

Ride in a Beautiful Balloon

Vancouver garners many accolades for its natural surroundings and beauty. Those who live here seem to be in love with this place and while it might be stretching the point, if you listen to this tune you might think a Vancouver zealot had written the lyrics.

Median Prices

For a number of years Median prices in Vancouver appear to be attached to that balloon as it rises ‘Up Up and Away’ from most people’s ability to purchase a home. It has made the idea of of affordable housing contentious. As such, while world of Vancouver might look like ‘a nicer place from our beautiful balloon’ the reality for many people who want to buy a home very different.

A Star to Guide Us

There has been a lot of press debating reasons for the continued price climb. In the discourse are the usual visions of why it is such as the lack of government over site and of course the race card.

Silly Reasons

Many socioeconomic reasons have been conjured to explain Vancouver’s stellar home prices. None however, have become risen to guiding star status. So you are left to fumble with the hope that you can figure out how this market arrived at this state.

As viable a reason as the concept of affordable housing in Vancouver, within this confusion you ponder – is the Vancouver real estate market tethered to a beautiful balloon in the 5th Dimension?

Unfortunately, the ever deflating Canadian Dollar turns this ‘Balloon’ into more of a Whoopee Cushion.

Did you use the balloon as a metaphor intentionally? IE “hot air” keeping it aloft and less controls than say an airplane? How about when hot air running out the balloon returning to earth, sometimes rapidly and with a rough landing?
