False Creek

False Creek is a short inlet in the middle of Vancouver that separates the downtown core from the remainder of the city. It was during the hydrographic survey of 1856-63 that George Henry Richards first recorded the name False Creek.

False Creek, a former industrial heartland of Vancouver with sawmills and small port operations, has since the 1950’s morphed into a high density residential area punctuated by an abundance of waterfront parks, community spaces. The area was home to Expo 86 and is home to the 2010 Winter Olympics Athletes village.
