The Clock Turned
It happened yesterday. Time approached silently, without fanfare. It happened in the dark as I watched the green luminescence change to 12:01 a.m..
The quiet acknowledgment of change was broken with shocked words of “holy crap”! It’s happened – I am now sixty years old!
Cause and Effect
Normally, I don’t share much personal stuff on this blog, but as two thirds of my life have passed I thought – “oh what the hell!”
Some Thoughts
Appreciation welled up as I unwound the clock and reflected on the fact that I have been assisting people in their endevours to buy and sell Vancouver homes for almost 30 years. Many of those people have become friends. To them – I say thank you for making this part of my life full. It’s been grand!
I’m lucky!
Why? Without being glib, if for no other reason it is because I am here to tell you so. Many, never get the chance.
About Laughing
It’s nice to laugh at yourself and share laughter with others. It’s a gift – an essence of soul.
Simple Secrets
It’s a good thing to see the sun come up and feel it’s warmth. It’s a signal that there is another chance to make things better, for you, for me and for those I have yet to meet.
Little mysteries remind me of children who find life’s secrets under rocks. They are there for us all to discover and share. Turn one over! You may just find a secret that helps you get by.
Touch of Grey
It’s all right! If my thoughts don’t work for you, perhaps when your “Touch of Grey” arrives be Greatful that The Dead put it in perspective.
“Touch of Grey – The Greatful Dead”
Must be getting early,
Clocks are running late.
Paint by Number morning sky
Looks so phony.
Dawn is breaking everywhere:
Light a candle, curse the glare,
Draw the curtains, I don’t care, ’cause
It’s all right.
I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive.
I see you’ve got your fist out:
Say your piece and get out.
Guess I get the gist of it, but
It’s all right.
Sorry that you feel that way.
The only thing there is to say:
Every silver lining’s got a
Touch of grey.
I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive
It’s a lesson to me:
The Ables and the Beggars and the Cease.
The ABC’s we all must face
To try to keep a little grace.
It’s a lesson to me:
The Deltas and the East and the Freeze.
The ABC’s we all think of
To try to win a little love.
I know the rent is in arrears,
The dog has not been fed in years,
It’s even worse than it appears, but
It’s all right.
Cow is giving kerosene,
Kid can’t read at seventeen,
The words he knows are all obscene, but
It’s all right.
I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive.
The shoe is on the hand it fits,
There’s really nothing much to it,
Whistle through your teeth and spit, ’cause
It’s all right.
Oh well, a touch of grey
Kinda suits you anyway,
That was all I had to say, and
It’s all right.
I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive.
We will get by, we will get by, we will get by, we will survive.

Life is about quality, not quantity, but Larry, you’ve got both.
No, that doesn’t mean you’re old.
“but as two thirds of my life have passed I thought…”
This seems unusually optimistic for you.
Happy birthday Larry. Wishing you many, many more.
Belated Happy Birthday Larry… quoting the Grateful Dead reveals more about you than your blog…
Did you know Gerry Garcia was a terrific banjo player?
Ms. T., Norm and Duncan,
as I said it’s a good thing to be able to laugh at yourself. With you guys I just left the door open too wide
Happy birthday month officially old man.
