Kitsilano’s West Broadway
Walking along West Broadway from Larch to Collingwood Street will invite you to enjoy the new medallion art currently being embedded into the sidewalks.
Movers and Shakers
The West Broadway Community project is the result of efforts made by the Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce, the West Broadway Business Committee and the Hellenic Canadian Congress of B.C.
The Works
Unique black granite medallions are now being embedded into the sidewalks. Each of the 36 medallions offer perspectives of Coastal Salish First Nations and Greek artwork.
The Benefactors
Businesses, property owners and residents have all joined in supporting the community. The medallions reflect the heritage of Kitsilano beginning with the Coast Salish and the 100 years of Greek Culture in the neighborhood. In recognition thereof the sponsor’s names will be featured on a granite “Dedication Plaque” to be installed at the newly designed and refurbished “pocket park” at Bayswater and Broadway, the midway point.
The Artists
Susan Point, Kelly Cannell designed and executed the Coast Salish works. Evie Katevatis and Alexandra Dikeakos completed the Greek art.
